Lochtmans Mosaics

The ancient art of mosaic in the contemporary world.

A few steps from the center of Pietrasanta, an international city of art and a cultural melting pot of artists from all over the world for years, our workshop creates custom mosaics thanks to timeless craftsmanship whose charm, elegance, and refinement never go out of fashion.

Our studio collaborates with many artists and architects by creating works for private and public spaces and places of worship.

Our History

The artistic history of the Lochtmans Mosaics family begins three generations ago, in 1948, when the Favret company took Federigo Lochtmans on as an apprentice at the age of 13.
He learns mosaic techniques at a young age, and in the early 1960s, he decides to work at the Bacci e Ferrari company until 1974.
The same year, together with three partners, Federigo opened his own business. His son Daniele also joined it in 1980.
In 2004, Federigo and Daniele founded Lochtmans Mosaics (Lochtmans Mosaici), where grandson Gabriele also started work in 2017.

PROJECTS AND WORKS

California, New York, Ohio, Florida and Illinois are some of the states where Lochtmans Mosaics has worked in the field of sacred art. The company has created various interiors internationally and collaborated with many contemporary artists, such as Igor Mitoraj, Antonio Trotta, Jean-Michel Folon and Girolamo Ciulla.

Design & Creation

ARTISTIC MOSAICS

Everything comes from an idea converted into a sketch approved by the customer or the artist, translated into a full-scale black-and-white drawing. Subsequently, this drawing is cut into pieces because of production needs.

At this moment, the mosaic is created: we choose materials that will be applied by hand on the drawing, and, once all the pieces of the work are completed, we proceed to the final installation in the space devoted to it.
